Vate Huli is also known as Monkey Jack. Its botanical name is Artocarpus lacucha. It is a deciduous tree which grows in tropical and warm climates. It's fruit used to treat anorexia, constipation, fever, obesity, skin diseases, liver diseases and digestive problems. It also has antibacterial and antioxidant properties which provide cooling effect to the body. The sour fruit is dried and used as a substitute for tamarind in curries and dry palya, especially in the Western Ghat region of Karnataka and Kerala.
